Welcome To West Shore
Child Care Center
Who We Are
We offer a safe and engaging environment from infant to school age and an exceptional Pre-k program that prepares children for Kindergarten. Our teachers have professional backgrounds, show warmth, form supportive relationships with children, model enthusiasm, and show regard for students’ voices. Our teachers have learned through their professional preparation and on-the-job experiences the best ways to maintain order in the class and help students regulate their own behavior We believe in supporting teachers who set goals to help children become productive, responsible, curious and active learners by modeling advanced language and teaching them ways of thinking in literacy, math, and science We focus on helping every child to learn, develop, and gradually do things independently. We offer daily opportunities for communication between parents and teachers through email and texting apps. We will always have expectations for professionalism that not only meet but exceed the standards.

From Infant to School Age
Learning Through Play

Our curriculum is centered on providing opportunities for children to explore and learn about the world around them through a variety of rich and meaningful experiences. We encourage the development of individual creativity and social development. Our classroom schedules included opportunities for Dramatic Play, Art Expression, Cooperative Play, Quiet Time, Block Building, Language Development, Tactile Play, and both Large and Small Group Experiences.
Summer Program
We host children ages kindergarten to 5th grade.
Learn, play and explore - that is how we describe our School Age Program and Summer Camp Explorations. We have energetic, encouraging teachers who have worked towards some awesome themes. Do you like camping? Mystical creatures? Science and cooking? Then we are the place to be. Do you like to swim? The West Shore Child Care Center is for you. We are in walking distance to the Rocky River Recreation Center. Along with some field trips, your school-aged child will be sure to have the best year here.

How Important is Preschool?
Statistics show that a majority of kids attend at least one year of preschool: According to the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER), more than two-thirds of 4-year-olds and more than 40 percent of 3-year-olds were enrolled in a preschool in 2005. "Children who attend high-quality preschool enter kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not," says NIEER director W. Steven Barnett, PhD.
"Every child should have some sort of group experience before he starts kindergarten," says Amy Flynn, director of New York City's Bank Street Family Center. Music and gymnastics classes are great, but what preschools do that less formal classes do not, is teach kids how to be students. Your child will learn how to raise her hand, take turns, and share the teacher's attention. What's more, she will learn how to separate from Mommy, who often stays in a music or gym class. All of this makes for an easier transition to kindergarten. "Kindergarten teachers will tell you that the students who are ready to learn are those who come into school with good social and behavior-management skills," Smith says.
Your child will learn, to strengthen socialization skills -- how to compromise, be respectful of others and problem-solve -- preschool provides a place where your child can gain a sense of self, explore, play with her peers, and build confidence. Kids in preschool discover that they are capable and can do things for themselves -- from small tasks like pouring their own juice and helping set snack tables to tackling bigger issues like making decisions about how to spend their free time.
